Omeo Wreck: Best Snorkel Spot in Perth, WA
Recently I set off on my adventure to Omeo Wreck, just north of Coogee Beach WA. This snorkelling spot is one of the best in Perth, offering some awesome scenery under water. Here is everything you need to know:
What is Omeo Wreck:

The Omeo Ship was built in England back in 1858 and after many passenger carrying trips the boats engine was removed and replaced, in which after it continued to make many trips. During its trips the ship had its fair amount of collisions, after a large incident with a Japanese boat it was used only as a hulk and then abandoned only a few kilometres from Fremantle harbour.
Snorkelling at Omeo Wreck:
With its rich history adding to its charm, this snorkelling spot is the perfect place to spend a relaxing afternoon, whether you're on your own or with loved ones. The area boasts plenty of grassy spaces to lounge on, and the snorkelling entry is easily accessed via stairs leading directly into the water—perfect for avoiding sandy toes if the beach isn’t your thing! For those who prefer the full beach experience, the wreck is just a short swim from the shore, making it easy to park up on the sand and enjoy.
We visited after some rain, so the water wasn’t as clear as it could be. Make sure to check the weather beforehand, as Perth’s summer days usually deliver perfect conditions for a swim around this iconic boat.
Once you're there, take your time to explore the underwater world. The area is alive with marine life, from colourful fish to stunning corals, making it a snorkelling spot worth experiencing. Remember to admire with your eyes, not your hands, to help preserve this special spot for everyone to enjoy!
